The automatic center punch is used to create an indentation in metal or plastic. By placing the punch on the workpiece and pressing down, a spring mechanism is tensioned and, once enough pressure is applied, it releases suddenly. This action delivers the punch without the need for a hammer.
The striking force is usually continuously adjustable.
This allows for accurate drilling without the drill bit slipping away from the marked location.
